Unless you follow us on facebook or instagram, you might not know much about the underspin I’ve been working on for the past year. We haven’t been good about posting updates on the site so we’re going to work on that, especially since we have some really cool stuff we’re working on.
But back to the underspin… I started working on this bait around the same time I was working on the BiCO Bomb. I thought an underspin would be a great addition to our lineup of baits, and after a long design process… the BiCO Bottom-Spin was born.
I really liked the way this bait ran in the water, but until it was tested in battle it was worthless. So I took the final prototype down to Lake Baccarac in Mexico back in March for some serious testing.
I run trips down to the lake every year and it’s the perfect testing ground for new lures because of how big and aggressive the bass are down there. But I won’t get started on talking Lake Baccarac fishing or I won’t be able to stop.
This was a group of 16 fishermen and I gave them all a few prototypes each to fish. I wanted the baits to get some serious time and abuse in the water, and did they ever. Between myself and the group this bait caught hundreds of bass in the six to ten pound range. (Yes this lake is absurd)
Here are a couple of the biggest of the trip…
We tested the underspins with a wide variety of paddle tail trailers and found the Keitech FAT Swing Impact trailers to be the best. So we got in touch with Keitech about supplying them as our recommended trailer to use with these baits. And as a bonus the 4.3″ works great with the Original Jigs as a swim jig trailer.
So after getting back from the trip in April we put the baits in to production and I’m happy to say they came out looking better than I could have expected. They are now available in the store as well as a small selection of Keitech trailers if you want to check them out click here.
Thanks for reading guys and talk to you soon!
